Let’s start off by answering the question I get so often, “What is Kombucha?”

Kombucha is a wonderfully fermented, lightly effervescent sweetened black (or green) tea drink.  Depending on who I am talking to, the word fermented can turn people away so I often stick with saying “a sparkling tea beverage”. That usually keeps the interest for longer so they can learn about all of the health benefits associated with drinking Kombucha!

What are some of these benefits you ask?

Gut Health
My favorite health benefit is that it aids in digestion and overall gut health. Because it’s fermented with a living colony of bacteria and yeast, it is a probiotic beverage.

Joint Care
Kombucha is loaded with glucosamines, which increase synovial hyaluronic acid production. What does that mean? It means that Kombucha can help heal, repair and prevent joint damage in addition to supporting the preservation of collagen and decreasing the effects of arthritis.

Many people report feeling energized after drinking Kombucha. The reason for this is the iron that is released from the black tea during the fermentation process. This iron that is released helps boost blood hemoglobin, improving oxygen supply to tissues and stimulating the energy-producing process.

The detoxifying capacity of Kombucha is immense. It helps the body maintain healthy livers and aides cancer prevention by counteracting liver cell toxicity.
